I have been attending Delaware County Community College since the Spring 2012 semester and every semester there is a different way of getting around the campus and navigating the website to find information. In this blog, I will provide you with a step by step way of accessing the DCCC online library database for the Spring of 2015.
First: Use your web browser and go to www.dccc.edu
Second: Click the menu tab (4 small horizontal lines on the top right of the screen) and click on the delaGATE tab
Third: Sign in using your DCCCid (your "P" number) and password. This will take you to the "MainGate" screen.
Fourth. Click on the "Learning Commons" tab and you will see in the middle of the page under library resources a search box for the library database EBSCO host. You can start right there by entering keywords on a subject of your choice and clicking on search!
I typed in "Social Institutions" and received a huge amount of results about all social institutions. I wanted to narrow it down to the social institutions that I am inquiring about for my research, so I type in "Social Institutions, Family" and that narrowed it down to articles about Family as a Social Institution. This made my research easier because the results were what I was focused on. Here is one of the articles that I found helpful:
Family Functions: A Structural-Functional Analysis.
