"The House on Mango Street"
The theme is out of place, but in this passage it seems that the reason for the out of place is coming from the person's idea of place. Her parents described a house to her that seemed like a dream come true. Though she and her family ended up owning their own home it wasn't the home that she expected making her feel that there was not where she belonged.
"What is the what?"
In this out of place theme I take that the person is culturally mad morally out of place. As he is being robbed he is wishing that he is back in one of the countries that he previously lived in where at the times there was nothing to be robbed of and the things that are taken for granted here in America are highly appreciated.
